The Biology and Biology Education Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Semarang State University (FMIPA UNNES), successfully held the 2025 National Biology Seminar (SNB) with the theme “Strengthening the Role of Biology and Biology Education through Innovation and Technology in Facing the Global Challenges of Sustainable Development.” This academic event was led by Dr. Lina Herlina, M.Si., as the committee chair. The seminar featured experts in biology and biology education from within and outside the country as key speakers, including:
Prof. Topik Hidayat, M.Si., Ph.D. (Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia)
Dr. Chinnaperumal Kamaraj, Ph.D. (SRM Institute of Science and Technology, India)
Dr. Arif Nurkanto, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D. (Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional – BRIN)
Dr. Yustinus Ulung Anggraito, M.Si. (Universitas Negeri Semarang)
In his remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at UNNES emphasized the importance of collaboration and knowledge exchange in the global era, stating, “By exchanging information, we can gain broader insights into the use of technology in developing research outcomes now and in the future. This is expected to optimize the benefits of research results for the wider community and foster progress in all fields.”


In addition to the plenary session with keynote speakers, SNB 2025 also featured parallel sessions featuring presenters from various universities across Indonesia, spanning nine provinces: Aceh, Jambi, the Riau Islands, East Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Riau, West Java, Central Java, East Java, and West Papua. Participants included researchers, academic educators, teachers, and students. The research areas presented included biology, biotechnology and microbiology, zoology and health, and botany and the environment.
Through this seminar, UNNES reaffirmed its commitment as a conservation campus to foster the development of biology and biology education, contributing not only to strengthening scientific knowledge but also to addressing the global challenges of sustainable development.
