Singapore, July 16, 2025 – The Master of Science Education Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Singapore (UNNES), held a special lecture on “Science Education in Singapore” at the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University (NIE NTU), Singapore. This series of activities, in collaboration with Assoc. Prof. Tan Aik Ling, Deputy Head (Teaching & Curriculum Matters), Natural Sciences & Science Education, was attended by 18 students and five accompanying lecturers. This activity embodies the scientific vision of the Master of Science Education Study Program to establish a global reputation as a pioneer in the development of natural sciences.
All participants were enthusiastic and active in the presentations and discussions with the speakers regarding science education in Singapore. This was a golden opportunity for prospective teacher students to gain new insights and experiences about the science learning systems and strategies in Singapore, contributing to the development of students who are competent in science and technology, ready to face the challenges of the digital era.
This special lecture activity not only strengthens the academic relationship between UNNES and NIE NTU, but also becomes a strategic step in broadening the global perspective of students and lecturers of the Master of Science Education, FMIPA UNNES. Through direct experience at a world-leading educational institution, participants gain inspiration, new knowledge, and motivation to continue innovating in science learning. It is hoped that this activity will be able to encourage the birth of science education practices that are more contextual, adaptive, and oriented towards the development of 21st-century competencies. In the future, programs like this will continue to be pursued as part of the commitment of the Master of Science Education Study Program, FMIPA UNNES in producing superior and globally competitive science educators and scientists.
