Semarang, July 14, 2025 — The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Semarang State University (UNNES) once again established an international academic collaboration through the SULAM ANTARABANGSA SCE523 program, held during the International Classroom Symposium: Physics in Practice session. This activity is a collaboration between FMIPA UNNES and the Faculty of Education, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia.
The online event, held on Monday, July 14, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. WIB, brought together students from the Wave course from UNNES, supervised by Dr. Ellianawati, M.Sc., and students from the SULAM program from UiTM, supervised by Puan Zulinda Ayu Zulkipli, M.Ed.

More than 60 students from both institutions actively participated in this activity. During the symposium, UiTM students served as committee members, while UNNES students presented their project results. Twelve student groups from the Student Affairs and Training Institute (MK Wave) presented the results of inquiry-based practicums as part of the application of project-based learning in physics.
The participants’ enthusiasm was evident throughout the presentation and question-and-answer sessions. Despite minor challenges related to differences in terminology for physics concepts, students from both countries were able to understand each other and engage in active discussion. This demonstrates that scientific language and a spirit of collaboration can bridge geographical and cultural boundaries.
Dr. Ellianawati expressed her appreciation for the students’ active participation and the excellent cooperation from UiTM. She hopes this activity can become an annual event, covering a broader range of topics and involving more educational institutions.
The SULAM ANTARABANGSA SCE523 activity not only strengthened the cross-cultural learning experience for students but also served as concrete evidence of the implementation of the Independent Learning-Independent Campus (MBKM) program in a global context.
