Semarang, December 2, 2024 — The Mathematics Education Study Program, FMIPA, Semarang State University (UNNES) received a comparative study visit from the Mathematics Education Study Program, FKIP, Universitas PGRI Argopuro Jember (UNIPAR). The activity, which took place on Monday, was attended by 73 students and 8 lecturers from FKIP UNIPAR.
The event started at 09.00 WIB in the FMIPA UNNES hall with an official opening by the Dean of FMIPA UNNES. In his remarks, he expressed his appreciation for UNIPAR’s visit and hoped that this activity would be a forum for sharing knowledge and strengthening relations between the two institutions. The next remarks were delivered by the Dean of FKIP UNIPAR, who expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome from UNNES. The Coordinator of the Mathematics Education Study Program (Kooprodi) FMIPA UNNES, Dr. Mulyono, M.Sc., also gave a welcoming speech and explained the general description of the Mathematics Education study program at UNNES.
After the opening ceremony, the activity continued with a lecture session delivered by Dr. Drs. Sugiman, M.Sc., an expert in media and learning. In this session, he discussed interesting topics related to Media and Learning for Children with Special Needs (ABK), including examples of demonstrations of the use of teaching aids specifically designed to support the ABK learning process. Participants, both students and lecturers from UNIPAR, seemed very enthusiastic, as evidenced by the many questions and active discussions during the session.
After the lecture session, the comparative study participants were invited to tour the UNNES FMIPA Mathematics Education laboratory. During this visit, the participants saw firsthand the collection of teaching aids for ABK owned by the study program. UNIPAR students also had the opportunity to discuss with UNNES students, sharing knowledge and experiences related to the development and use of teaching aids in mathematics learning.
This comparative study activity took place with great enthusiasm and warmth. The supervising lecturer from UNIPAR said that this activity provided new insights and very useful inspiration, especially in the field of learning media innovation.
“Hopefully this activity will be the first step for further collaboration between UNIPAR and UNNES, especially in the development of mathematics education,” said the Dean of FKIP UNIPAR at the end of the event. The visit ended with the handover of souvenirs and a group photo as a memento. The participants returned to Jember with new experiences and knowledge that will be applied in their respective campuses.
