The Biology and Biology Education Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Semarang State University held a public lecture on the topic Application of Proteomics Approach for Allergen Characterization on Thursday, September 5, 2024. The event, which took place in the Hall of Building D12, 3rd floor, FMIPA Unnes, presented Prof. Dr. Rosmilah binti Misnan, Director of the Research Management & Innovation Center (RMIC) Sultan Idris Education University, Malaysia. This event was held with the aim of increasing students’ insight, especially in the field of molecular biology. In addition, this program is also expected to expand cooperation between FMIPA Unnes and Sultan Idris Education University.
Prof. Dr. Rosmilah is an expert in the fields of Medical Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Allergy and Proteomics who has produced various scientific works published in international journals. In her presentation, Prof. Dr. Rosmilah explained the identification of allergens in various types of sea oysters that are processed in different ways using proteomics studies. Proteomics studies are studies that can be used generally in protein analysis, but he used it specifically in allergen analysis. This is very useful because in society, especially ASEAN, many people experience allergy problems, either due to food or other factors. Therefore, proteomics studies are important to study because there are still many problems that can be studied with this study. The implementation of this public lecture was greeted enthusiastically by students, as evidenced by the many questions asked in the question and answer session. The implementation of this event was closed with the giving of souvenirs and the signing of a cooperation agreement between Sultan Idris Education University and Semarang State University.
