Semarang, September 4, 2024 – The 11th International Conference on Mathematics, Science, and Education (ICMSE) which took place at the FMIPA Ballroom, Building D12, 3rd floor, Semarang State University, was officially opened by the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Amin, M.Pd. This conference raised the theme “Research and Education on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics for Sustainable Development Goals” and succeeded in attracting the attention of many academics and researchers from various countries.
In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs emphasized the importance of the role of science and technology in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). “Collaboration and innovation through STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) are the keys to overcoming global challenges and encouraging sustainable progress,” he said.
This activity presented a number of international speakers who have expertise in their respective fields. Keynote speakers include Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohd Khairuddin Md Arshad from the Institute of Nano Electronic Engineering, Universiti Malaysia Perlis, Malaysia; Prof. Dr. Kongkiti Phusavat, Ph.D. from Industrial Engineering, Kasetsart University, Thailand; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Shuhaimi Bin Abu Bakar from the Department of Physics, Universiti Malaya, Malaysia; Talitha Widiatningrum M.Si., Ph.D. from the Department of Biology, Universitas Negeri Semarang, Indonesia; and Prof. Dr. Rosmilah binti Misnan from the Department of Biology, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Malaysia.
In addition, several invited speakers who shared their insights were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Bien from the Department of Physics, Hanoi National University of Education, Vietnam; Dr. Tri Sri Noor Asih, S.Si., M.Si. from the Department of Mathematics, Universitas Negeri Semarang, Indonesia; Dr. Saffanah Mohd Ab Azid from The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Prince of Songkla University, Hat Yai, Thailand; and Assoc. Prof. Much Aziz Muslim from the Department of Computer Science, Universitas Negeri Semarang, Indonesia.
This conference is expected to be a forum for the exchange of knowledge and innovation that will contribute to the development and application of STEM in an effort to achieve the SDGs. With strong international collaboration, participants hope that the results of this conference can have a positive impact on the development of science and technology in various countries.
