Patemon Reservoir, located in Patemon Village, Semarang City, has been built since 2017 and is considered to have great potential as a local tourism icon. The Community Service Team of FMIPA Semarang State University (UNNES) consisting of Prof. Dr. Siti Harnina, Dr. Ufi Saraswati M.Hum, Dr. Sri Sukaesih, MPd, Dra. Ely Rudyatmi, MSi, and Dr. Dewi Mustikaningtyas, MBioMed. strives to mobilize the community, especially PKK mothers and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), to encourage tourism development around the reservoir. In the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) held on May 8, 2024, the Coordinator of the UNNES PKM Team, Prof. Dr. Siti Harnina, explained the plan to create selfie spots, educational tourism, and culinary at the location.

The FGD raised the theme “The Role of Community Empowerment in Increasing the Tourism Potential of Patemon Reservoir and Entrepreneurship,” and invited various parties, including the RW head and local MSME actors. In addition to Siti Harnina, the PKM team also involved a number of academics and students to explore the potential of the reservoir covering an area of ​​around 7,000 square meters. Dr. Ufi Saraswati from the PKM team emphasized that Patemon Reservoir has value as a resource that needs to be utilized properly, especially in terms of accessibility and information.

The Head of Patemon, Muhammad Khosim, and the Deputy Chairperson of LPMK Patemon, Sokeh, were present to support this initiative. Sokeh appreciated UNNES’ involvement in the development of the reservoir, which is currently being used by residents for fishing. He also mentioned that there is great potential to develop local specialties and preserve local culture, such as batik crafts related to local products such as cashew nuts.
