Numeracy literacy is defined as the ability of students to describe information related to numbers or mathematics, then formulate a problem, analyze the problem, and find a solution to the problem (Hartatik, 2019). Some of the objectives of numeracy include honing and strengthening numeracy knowledge and skills in interpreting numbers, data, tables, graphs, and diagrams, providing a knowledge and skills platform to solve problems and make decisions in everyday life from logical considerations, forming and strengthening the quality of human resources that are able to contribute to society. Based on observations made at SMP Negeri 3 Ungaran, the numeracy activities held by the school received less interest from students. Students felt confused and were not used to solving numeracy problems, as seen from the frequent mistakes students made in understanding the questions, making mistakes in transforming formulas, and making mistakes in writing answers.
Based on this background, the leadership project team with chairman Zakkiyatun Nisaa Fadhilatulathifi, S.Pd. with the guidance of Dr. Bambang Eko Susilo, S.Pd., M.Pd. made an innovative breakthrough by providing a platform providing innovative numeracy learning resources called “SUPERNOVA: Innovative Numeracy Learning Resources” for junior high school level which is easily accessible to students and teachers on the page https://bank-soal-numerasi-smp-5b6q1kv.gamma.site/ or https://bit.ly/Supernova_Unnes. As motivation, a competition was held called “PENA: Fun Numeration Week”. This activity aims to increase students’ interest in learning numeracy at the junior high school level, namely at SMP Negeri 3 Ungaran in particular and for junior high school students in general. The PENA – SUPERNOVA activity was carried out in 3 days, namely Wednesday – Friday, July 24-26, 2024. On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, a socialization activity was carried out about the PENA competition and a soft launch of the SUPERNOVA platform for students. On Thursday, July 25, 2024, the PENA Competition was held for students followed by a soft launch of the SUPERNOVA platform for teachers at SMP Negeri 3 Ungaran. Furthermore, on Friday, July 26, 2024, rewards were given to students who won the PENA competition. The results of the PENA – SUPERNOVA activity evaluation succeeded in increasing the interest in learning numeracy of students at SMP Negeri 3 Ungaran in the high category (N-gain 0.83). The SUPERNOVA platform that was created received a positive response from students and teachers and is still being used in numeracy habits every Wednesday in the early hours before learning takes place.
