FMIPA News—Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Semarang State University signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Al Hidayah Waqaf Foundation Thailand, Saturday (22/6/2024).
Al Hidayah Waqaf Foundation for Education and Social Development is an Islamic college founded by the Muslim community in Hatyai, Southern Thailand and led by Adul Meatam. Collaboration between the two institutions has been initiated since 2023 and was strengthened by the signing of an MoA in the academic sector as a formal basis for the realization of UNNES programs with Al Hidayah (Implementation of Arrangement/IA)
Zaenal Abidin PhD as Deputy Dean for Academic and Student Affairs FMIPA UNNES stated that this collaboration with Al Hidayah is very worthy of continuing because the benefits obtained for students and lecturers are very meaningful. Students can gain experience and expand international connections which are useful for self-development in preparing for their future. Apart from that, lecturers can provide service programs to Indonesian teachers who teach in schools spread across Thailand through the facilitation of Al Hidayah. “The opportunity for students to carry out the UNNES Lantip International program or teaching programs in schools in Southern Thailand is wide open with the collaboration with Al Hidayah,” he said.
Dr Isnarto as Deputy Dean for Planning and Resources also welcomed the strengthening of this academic collaboration. “Planning related to program implementation in the form of FMIPA UNNES academic activities supported by Al Hidayah can be carried out more carefully with this MoA,” he explained.
Meanwhile, the founder of Al Hidayah, Adul Meatam, expressed his gratitude for strengthening cooperation with FMIPA UNNES because it can strengthen friendship and friendship between countries and Islamic da’wah and proper education between nations is very important to achieve. This collaboration also opens up opportunities for promotion to prospective new international students from various Thai schools to study at FMIPA UNNES. Through this MoA, promotion and recruitment of international students needs to be included so that the challenges of internationalization of study programs within the FMIPA environment can be realized. “We really support academic programs such as KKN, PPL, PKL, seminars, scholarships, student exchanges and community service for lecturers to improve academic quality on both sides,” he said.
