Clayton, 17 May 2024 – In an effort to strengthen academic relations and share international knowledge, the Faculty of Education at Clayton Campus is proud to hold a Guest Lecture with the theme “Teacher Education Policy in Indonesia”. This event featured five lecturers from Semarang State University (UNNES), namely Prof. Dr. Ngabiyanto, M.Sc. (FISIP), Prof. Dr. Fathur Rokhman, M. Hum. (FBS), Prof. Dr. Ani Rusilowati, M.Pd. (FMIPA), Dr. Barokah Isdaryanti, S.Pd., M.Pd. (FIP), and Arif Widiyatmoko, S.Pd., M.Pd., Ph.D (FMIPA).
Located in the Teaching and Learning Building, Level 3 Room 351-Seminar Room 19, Ancora Imparo Way, Clayton Campus, this event starts at 10 am and lasts until 1 pm. The participants consisting of students, lecturers and educational practitioners were very enthusiastic about following the series of presentations and discussions presented.
The first session was presented by Prof. Dr. Ngabiyanto, M.Sc., who discussed “The Dynamics of Teacher Policy in Indonesia”. In an authoritative style, he reviews the history and dynamics of teacher education policy in Indonesia. Prof. Ngabiyanto explained how the policy continues to adapt to changing times and community needs. “Teacher education policies must always be dynamic to answer global challenges,” he stressed.
Continuing to the second session, Prof. Dr. Fathur Rokhman, M.Hum., explained about “Teacher Professional Education Policy in Indonesia”. He highlighted various programs and initiatives carried out by the government to increase teacher professionalism. “Through professional education, we can create teachers who are more competent and dedicated,” he said while presenting data and real case examples.
Prof. Dr. Ani Rusilowati, M.Pd. lecturer in the physics education study program and coordinator of the master’s program in physics education, captivated the audience’s attention with the topic “Assessment Policy in Indonesia”. He explained the assessment policy in the Indonesian education system and how this policy aims to improve the quality of education. “Fair and comprehensive assessment is the key to quality education,” he explained with conviction.
Dr. Barokah Isdaryanti, S.Pd., M.Pd., presented a presentation on “Inclusive Education in Indonesia”. In his presentation, he discussed the importance of inclusive education policies that provide equal learning opportunities for all children, including children with special needs. “Inclusive education is the foundation for a just and equitable society,” he said empathetically.
The last session was filled by Arif Widiyatmoko, S.Pd., M.Pd., Ph.D. which is coordinating the Master of Science Education study program, with the topic “Utilization of ICT for Professional Teacher Development”. He showed how information and communication technology (ICT) can support teachers’ sustainable professional development. “Using ICT is a way to increase teacher competency in this digital era,” he said while showing various examples of applications and learning platforms.
During the question and answer session, the participants actively participated by asking in-depth and critical questions, reflecting their interest and concern for the topics discussed. “The opportunity to discuss directly with experts like this is very valuable,” said one participant.
The event closed with a group photo session and the presentation of souvenirs to the speakers as a sign of appreciation for their contributions. “This guest lecture provides new insights and opens up opportunities for further collaboration between UNNES and educational institutions in Australia,” said one of the committee members enthusiastically.
This Guest Lecture “Teacher Education Policy in Indonesia” was successful not only as an academic forum, but also as an important step in strengthening international networks and sharing knowledge to improve the quality of education at the global level. The Clayton Campus College of Education hopes to continue hosting events like this in the future.
