Semarang, 22 May 2024 – Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) Semarang State University (UNNES) commemorates National Nature Conservation Day by holding ornamental plant planting activities in the faculty environment. This activity involves lecturers, education staff, and cleaning service staff who work together to beautify and green the campus area.
Planting ornamental plants is not only carried out by lecturers and education staff, but also involves cleaning service staff who maintain the cleanliness of the campus every day. This collaboration shows the spirit of togetherness and mutual cooperation in keeping the campus environment beautiful.
“This is a very positive activity. We feel happy to be able to participate in planting these ornamental plants. We hope that with these plants, our work environment will become more comfortable and healthy,” said one of the cleaning service staff who took part in this activity. .
Apart from that, this event was also equipped with a short educational session on how to care for ornamental plants properly and correctly, delivered by one of the FMIPA UNNES biology lecturers. In the session, he provided practical tips regarding watering, fertilizing and placing ornamental plants so they can grow optimally. “Ornamental plants not only beautify a room, but also have health benefits such as improving air quality and reducing stress,”.
Dean of FMIPA UNNES, Prof. Dr. Edy Cahyono, M.Sc., who was present at the event, gave high appreciation to the FMIPA UNNES initiative. “I am very proud of this activity. Hopefully this ornamental plant planting activity can be an example for other faculties and will continue as part of nature conservation efforts on our campus,” said Prof. Dr. Edy Cahyono, M.Sc.
With the end of this activity, FMIPA UNNES hopes to continue to encourage awareness of the importance of nature conservation among the academic community and create a greener and healthier campus environment. The commemoration of National Nature Conservation Day this time is clear evidence of FMIPA UNNES’ commitment to preserving nature and supporting the greening movement in the campus environment.
