One of the collaborative programs between FMIPA UNNES and FMIPA Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) is in the field of research and learning. Therefore, on October 16-17, 2023, a joint research team from UNNES, led by Prof. Dr. Sudarmin, M.Si from the chemistry education study program at UNNES, conducted activities at UM Malang. These activities included (1) acting as guest lecturers on the topic of expertise in the integration of ETNO-STEM project-based learning models for the study of herbal tea aroma compounds for doctoral, master’s, and bachelor’s students in the chemistry education department at UM Malang, (2) practical project-based inquiry learning integrated with ETNO-STEM on the subject of herbal tea aroma compounds for UM chemistry education students, and (3) sharing opinions on the chemistry education curriculum oriented towards MBKM (Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka – Independent Learning, Independent Campus).

This research dissemination event took place over two days, from October 16 to October 17, 2023. The guest lecturer sessions were conducted on October 16, 2023, and were attended by approximately 75 students. The practical session on the analysis of herbal tea aroma compounds using Arduino gas sensors took place in the UM Organic Chemistry Laboratory with 24 student participants.

The activities began with an opening speech by the head of the undergraduate chemistry education program department, followed by guidance from the head of the master’s chemistry education study program, Dr. Munzil, M.Si. At the end of the activities, an evaluation and Q&A session was conducted, during which the participants expressed their satisfaction with the new insights and knowledge gained regarding the ETNO-STEM integrated project-based learning model.
