Holding the 17th National Mathematics Seminar in a Hybrid Format

In order to revive academic activities, the 17th National Mathematics Seminar was successfully held in a hybrid format on Saturday, October 14, 2023. With the theme “Mathematical Innovations and Learning for a Glorious Indonesia,” the event attracted the interest of 45 participants and featured 169 presenters. The report was presented by Dr. Putriaji Hendikawati, M.Pd., M.Sc., the Chairperson of the Committee.

Prof. Dr. H. Didi Suryadi, M.Ed., was the keynote speaker, delivering a presentation on the topic “Epistemic Pathways to Knowledge Generation through Didactical Design Research.” Prof. Didi emphasized that there are no wrong students, as their opinions are shaped by past knowledge. To improve, one must make changes.

Dr. Arief Agoestato, M.Si., was also a keynote speaker, discussing the topic “Trends in Statistical Tests and Their Applications in Mathematics Education Research.” During the ensuing discussions, it was noted that there are research opportunities related to statistical tests that are rarely conducted. Research in mathematics education can evolve in accordance with emerging issues.

The presence of the 17th National Mathematics Seminar in a hybrid format marks a positive initial step in fostering an academic atmosphere. The hope is that innovations in the field of mathematics and its learning can develop from this event and lead to the dissemination of research results.
