The Community Partnership Program (PKM) team from the Mathematics Education S1 Program at FMIPA UNNES, consisting of Emi Pujiastuti, Sugiman, Walid, and Fajar Syafaatullah, conducted a service activity involving a partner school, SMKN 1 Karimunjawa, Jepara. This activity took place on August 4, 2023. The issues faced by the partner school were: (1) How to improve the quality of learning through the creation of action research (PTK)? (2) How to enhance the quality of learning through the creation of articles based on classroom teaching practices?
To address these issues, the following steps were taken: (1) The community service team introduced the improvement of learning quality through the creation of action research (PTK) to the teachers at SMKN 1 Karimunjawa. (2) The skills of the teachers at SMKN 1 Karimunjawa in enhancing the quality of learning through the creation of articles based on classroom teaching practices were uncovered. (3) The need for a learning simulation model to support action research activities was emphasized.
Results: Evaluation of participants (the teachers at SMKN 1 Karimunjawa) was carried out in two stages: a written test and assignments. The average of both scores was taken. (1) The written test was used to assess the teachers’ understanding of teaching models, action research (PTK), and article writing. (2) The mathematical teaching device models based on teaching models were evaluated individually by the teachers.
Based on the evaluation results, the following outcomes were obtained. The final test results for the teachers had an average class score of 83.73. This average is considered good because it exceeds the individual passing grade, which is 75 out of a maximum score of 100.
Factors contributing to the success of this activity: (1) The enthusiasm of the teachers at SMKN 1 Karimunjawa to participate in this training was significant. (2) Teachers showed a strong interest in practicing teaching models, asking questions about action research (PTK), and article writing. (3) The teachers demonstrated commitment to carrying out independent tasks, such as preparing proposals and completing assignments.
