On Monday, July 24, 2023, the team from the Physics Study Program (Prodi Fisika) at FMIPA UNNES, consisting of Dr. Sugianto, M.Si., Dr. Budi Astuti, M.Sc., Dr. Suharto Linuwih, M.Si., and Dr. Dwi Yulianti, M.Si., was warmly received by the head of the Department of Physics at the University of Malaya, Prof. Dr. Zamri Bin Zainal Abidin. During the meeting, they discussed the initiation of cooperation concerning research collaboration, team teaching, and student mobility. Prof. Zamri presented the areas that could be considered for research collaboration, aligning with the fields of expertise in the Department of Physics at the University of Malaya, such as radio astronomy, energy storage, photo sensing, polymer electrolyte, theoretical physics, batteries, and photonic material. Prof. Zamri also mentioned that a virtual focus group discussion would be conducted soon to solidify the research collaboration activities in the coming years.
They also agreed to have research collaboration in the field of thin film materials between the research groups of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sugianto and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Shuhaimi Abu Bakar. The research collaboration would involve joint funding, both in cash and in kind, to facilitate the research activities. Dr. Shuhaimi also stated that this collaboration could include student mobility, allowing them to conduct research at the University of Malaya for a period ranging from 2 to 6 months. The aim is to provide students with opportunities for studying abroad and engaging in diverse research. Consequently, both faculty and students’ achievements could improve in the future.
Finally, with the initiation of this collaboration, it is hoped that not only the research group on thin film materials but also other research groups within the Physics Study Program at FMIPA UNNES and other programs within the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (MIPA) UNNES, in general, can engage in similar cooperative efforts.
