Collaboration between the Physics and Physics Education Departments of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), and the Physics Society of Indonesia (PSI) branch of Central Java and Yogyakarta successfully held the 35th National Physics Seminar and Scientific Meeting on Wednesday, July 12, 2023.

The 35th National Physics Seminar and Scientific Meeting, with the theme “Enhancing national recognition through the downstreaming of physics research and innovation/physics education,” was held in a hybrid format. This was the first hybrid seminar since the 2019 National Physics Seminar and Scientific Meeting held at Universitas Jenderal Soedirman.

The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Prof. Dr. Edy Cahyono, M.Si., who officially opened the seminar. Also present were Prof. Dr. Bilalodin, M.Si., as the chairman of PSI Central Java and Yogyakarta branch, Prof. Dr. Masturi, M.Si., as the coordinator of the Physics Department, invited guests, presenters, participants, and the organizing committee of the 35th National Physics Seminar and Scientific Meeting.

The 35th National Physics Seminar and Scientific Meeting featured three keynote speakers: Prof. Dr. Eng. Budi Purnama, M.Si. (Vice Chairman of PSI Central Java and Yogyakarta branch and Lecturer at Universitas Sebelas Maret), Prof. Dr. Wiyanto, M.Si. (Coordinator of the Science Education Doctoral Program at Universitas Negeri Semarang), and Dr. Choirul Anam, M.Si. (Expert in Medical Physics and Member of the Indonesian Medical Physicists Alliance).

Prof. Dr. Sarwi, M.Si., as the Chair of the 35th National Physics Seminar and Scientific Meeting, stated that the seminar was designed as a platform for researchers in the field of physics and physics education to share and discuss conceptual topics or ideas, as well as present research results related to innovations in the field of physics and physics education.

In his report, Prof. Dr. Sarwi, M.Si., mentioned that the 35th National Physics Seminar and Scientific Meeting, held in a hybrid format, was attended by various participants, including undergraduate and graduate students, teachers, and professors from Kalimantan, DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, and Yogyakarta.

The Scientific Meeting of the Central Java and Yogyakarta branch of PSI was also conducted as part of the seminar. The plenary session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Bilalodin, M.Si., who reported on the activities of the PSI Central Java and Yogyakarta branch over the past year and announced the location for the 36th National Physics Seminar and Scientific Meeting. The 36th National Physics Seminar and Scientific Meeting in 2024 will be held at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta.
