The Department of Integrated Science of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), in collaboration with the Perkumpulan Pendidik IPA Indonesia (PPII), successfully held the 13th National Science Seminar in 2023 with the theme “Excellence in Science Education for Natural Resources Conservation” on Saturday, July 1, 2023.
The 13th National Science Seminar was conducted in offline mode, making it the first offline seminar since the International Seminar in 2019.
The event was attended by the Dean of FMIPA UNNES, represented by Prof. Dr. Sutikno, M.T., as the Vice Dean for Research, Business, and Cooperation, who inaugurated the 13th National Science Seminar. Also present were Dr. Novi Ratna Dewi, S.Si, M.Pd., as the Head of the Department of Integrated Science, Prof. Dr. Parmin, M.Pd., as the Vice Rector 3 of Universitas Tidar and the Secretary-General of PPII, who is part of the Integrated Science Department family, as well as invited guests, speakers, participants, and the organizing committee of the 13th National Science Seminar.
The 13th National Science Seminar featured speakers who are experts in science education policy and environmental science. They included Dr. Ir. Sri Gunani, M.T. (Director of Learning and Student Affairs, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology), Prof. Dr. Edi Istiyono, M.Si. (Coordinator of the Doctoral Program in Research and Evaluation of Education at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, and Dr. Andhina Putri Herianti (Environmental Science, UNNES).
Mr. Prasetyo Listiaji, S.Pd., M.Sc., as the Chairman of the 13th National Science Seminar Committee, stated that the seminar was designed as a platform for educators, science enthusiasts, and environmentalists to share and discuss conceptual topics, research findings, and innovations in science education, Classroom Action Research (CAR) in science education, scientific research, and environmental studies.
In his report, Mr. Prasetyo Listiaji, S.Pd., M.Sc., mentioned that the offline seminar was attended by participants and presenters from various backgrounds, including undergraduate and graduate students, teachers, and professors. They came from regions such as Kalimantan, DKI Jakarta, Banten, West Java, Central Java, DIY (Yogyakarta Special Region), and East Java. The seminar attracted a total of 430 participants, and 76 papers were presented and disseminated during the event.
