The Executive Board of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Negeri Semarang (BEM FMIPA UNNES), in collaboration with @semarang_mangrove, has conducted an environmental action that includes beach cleaning, mangrove planting, and engaging discussions on coastal issues at Tirang Beach, Tugu Subdistrict, Semarang City. This environmental action aims to raise awareness of the importance of environmental conservation and strengthen the protection of coastal ecosystems.
BEM FMIPA UNNES also invited several environmentally conscious individuals as volunteers to join this activity in order to create a clean and healthy beach. This activity received full support from Djarum, BPSTH, the management of Tirang Beach, and the Semarang Mangrove Community.
The environmental action started in the morning with mangrove planting. BEM FMIPA UNNES, accompanied by @semarang_mangrove, planted a total of 400 mangrove seedlings. Under the guidance of environmental experts, the participants of the environmental action learned about the correct planting techniques and the importance of mangroves in maintaining the sustainability of coastal ecosystems. Additionally, they were also provided with an understanding of the benefits of mangrove ecosystems in climate change mitigation.
After completing the mangrove planting, the activity continued with beach cleaning. The beach cleaning action started from the mangrove planting site and extended to the waste collection area at Tirang Beach. Together, they cleaned the beach from plastic waste, organic waste, and other hazardous materials.
Throughout the activity, there were also educational discussions on coastal issues to educate and raise awareness among the participants about the importance of environmental conservation.
The beach cleaning action, mangrove planting, and engaging discussions on current issues are expected to have long-term positive impacts on environmental preservation. By involving various parties in tangible actions, we can maintain the beauty of the beach, biodiversity, and ecosystem balance, thereby providing a sustainable natural heritage for future generations.
BEM FMIPA UNNES extends its gratitude to all participants, volunteers, and partners who have participated in this activity. Let us together protect nature and create a greener and more sustainable future.
