FMIPA UNNES held a General Lecture with Assoc. Prof. Stephane Bressan, Ph.D. from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Risa Rosita, M.Si, Head Section of Environmental Technology Security SEAMEO BIOTROP, at Building D12, 3rd Floor, Sekaran Gunungpati Campus, Semarang, on Thursday, June 8, 2023. This General Lecture is part of the series of events for the UNNES Partnership Forum in celebration of UNNES’ 58th Anniversary.
In his opening speech, Dean of FMIPA UNNES Prof. Dr. Edy Cahyono, M.Si, stated that this General Lecture will provide new knowledge for FMIPA students and open opportunities for internships in partner institutions.
The General Lecture was attended by 104 students from the Departments of Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Integrated Science, and Computer Science, as well as 90 lecturers from various departments.
In his presentation entitled “Physics-informed Machine Learning,” Assoc. Prof. Stephane Bressan, Ph.D., expressed the significant development of machine learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI) and their contributions in various fields.
Meanwhile, Ms. Risa Rosita, M.Si, introduced SEAMEO Biotrop as a research institution and disseminator of tropical biology research findings. Internship opportunities are available for students who wish to participate in the MSIB internship at SEAMEO Biotrop. The discussion, moderated by Ms. Lutfia Nur Hadiyanti, M.Pd., went smoothly and sparked several questions from the participants, both students and lecturers.
By providing insights to students regarding the development of science and technology in the digital era from the speakers, students can think more broadly about the importance of interdisciplinary knowledge. Additionally, in this event, the Implementation of Arrangement (IA) was signed with the hope that collaboration with NUS and SEAMEO Biotrop will continue to flourish and yield beneficial activities for both parties.
