Semarang, May 31, 2023 – The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Universitas Negeri Semarang held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to discuss the management of FMIPA during the transition to a State Legal Entity (PTNBH). The FGD was attended by faculty members and educational staff to discuss the changes and challenges faced during the transition to PTNBH.
The change of status from Universitas Negeri Semarang to PTNBH has resulted in various changes in the management of FMIPA, including adjustments to administrative systems, finance, and policies. Therefore, the FGD aimed to gather input and suggestions from various stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition and maximize the benefits for FMIPA.
One of the main discussions in the FGD was delivered by Prof. Edy Cahyono, the Dean of FMIPA at Universitas Negeri Semarang, who emphasized the importance of good coordination between faculty members and educational staff in facing this change. He expressed that the transition to PTNBH brings many new opportunities in terms of resource management, improvement of educational quality, and more intensive research.
During the FGD, several important points were discussed, including:
- Administrative Adjustments: This change requires adjustments in the FMIPA administrative system, including financial management, academic administration, and human resources management. In this discussion, FGD participants shared their experiences and provided suggestions to improve administrative processes to be more efficient and transparent.
- Enhancing Research and Innovation: The transition to PTNBH provides an opportunity to further promote research and innovation at FMIPA. In this FGD, participants discussed the importance of strengthening collaboration between faculty members and students, as well as expanding partnerships with industries and other research institutions. They also proposed ideas to increase research funding and improve research facilities.
- Curriculum Development: The FGD also addressed the importance of developing a curriculum that is relevant to the demands of the industry and the latest advancements in scientific knowledge. Participants suggested curriculum updates, the introduction of new courses, and enhancing student empowerment through the MBKM program that aligns with the needs of the job market.
