The month of Ramadan is eagerly awaited by Muslims around the world. It is a noble month, chosen for fasting and the revelation of the Quran. In Ramadan, all acts of worship are multiplied in reward, making this month exceptionally special. The holy month of Ramadan provides a significant opportunity given by Allah to increase our piety, one of which is to foster the spirit of giving. As creatures of the Almighty and social beings in this life, we should realize that there are still many of our brothers and sisters who are in need of our help and support. Therefore, as religious individuals who care for others, the Biology Student Association of FMIPA UNNES (Himabio FMIPA UNNES) will seize this blessed month as an opportunity to demonstrate their concern for others.
This Social Service activity was conducted on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Manarul Mabrur Orphanage in Banyumanik, Semarang. The activities included the donation of a sum of IDR 5,500,000.00 in cash, games, and ice-breaking sessions with the children at the orphanage, followed by iftar (breaking the fast) together with the children.
“The purpose of this Social Service activity is to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and high sense of family among fellow believers, provide assistance and ease through monetary donations and essential items for the children, allowing them to experience a comfortable and fulfilled life, and to instill a sense of care among students and manifest it in the community,” explained Indra Ahmad Kurniawan, the Chief of Project or the project leader.
By implementing this well-organized Social Service activity, the educational mission is accomplished, and it serves as a means of material assistance to the community in need. Ultimately, it aims to improve living conditions and long-term, self-directed welfare, particularly for those who are in dire need of our helping hand.
