Jurusan Kimia mengawali tahun 2019 dengan melaksanakan Workshop  Blended Learning pada Kamis, 10 Januari 2019. Workshop tersebut diikuti oleh dosen-dosen jurusan kimia dengan menghadirkan dua narasumber. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah para peserta diharapkan dapat menerapkan blended learning, minimal pada salah satu mata kuliah yang diampu oleh masing-masing peserta.
Narasumber pertama dalam kegiatan tersebut adalah  Harjito, S.Pd., M.Sc., dosen jurusan kimia yang telah mengembangkan media pembelajaran online sejak tahun 2010 dan telah menerapkan blended learning. Beliau menyampaikan materi tentang website woodle sebagai media blended learning. Blended learning adalah pembelajaran yang menggabungkan pembelajaran tatap muka (face to face learning) dalam kelas  dan pembelajaran daring (online) di luar kelas. Blended learning memungkinkan dosen (pengajar) tetap dapat memantau pekerjaan dan perkembangan peserta didiknya (mahasiswa) di luar jam tatap muka. Beberap peserta (dosen-dosen jurusan kimia) langsung mempraktikan cara mengelola website tersebut untuk mempersiapkan suatu perkuliahan.
Narasumber kedua adalah Ardan Sirodjuddin, S.Pd., seorang kepala sekolah menengah kejuruan yang  telah menerapkan pembelajaran berbasis teknologi informasi sejak meniti profesi sebagai guru. Beliau menyampaikan hasil pelaksanaan blended learning di tempat bekerjanya. Blended learning sangat efektif menambah efisiensi kelas instruksi dan memungkinkan peningkatan diskusi atau meninjau informasi di luar ruang kelas. Selain itu, metode tersebut dapat mengatasi kendala “alokasi waktu pembelajaran yang terbatas”. Salah satu pengembangan blended learning adalah pembelajaran flipped class. Metode flipped class dilaksanakan dengan membagi kegiatan pembelajaran menjadi tiga bagian yaitu sebelum, saat, dan sesudah pembelajaran. Bagian sebelum dan sesudah pembelajaran dapat dilaksanakan di luar kelas, tentunya dengan bantuan teknologi informasi. Metode tersebut menjadikan pembelajaran  mempunyai alokasi waktu 3 kali lebih banyak daripada pembelajaran biasa namun tetap dapat mengikuti peraturan sekolah.
