Hibah penelitian pengembangan keilmuan yang diperuntukkan bagi profesor di Universitas Negeri Semarang memberi kesempatan untuk berkolaborasi dengan perguruan tinggi di luar negeri. Pada kesempatan ini, Prof. Dr. Ani Rusilowati, M. Pd. dan  Dr. Budi Astuti, M. Sc. berkolaborasi dengan Prof. Madya Dr. Nurulhuda binti Abd Rahman dari UPSI melakukan penelitian yang berjudul “Pengembangan Alat Evaluasi Literasi Sains untuk Mengukur Kompetensi Siswa  Indonesia dan Malaysia Menuju Generasi Berketerampilan Abad 21”. Pengembangan draf instrumen telah dilakukan, dibuat dalam dua bahasa yaitu Indonesia dan Melayu.
Pada kegiatan kunjungan ke UPSI pada tanggal 13-15 Agustus dimaksudkan untuk penyamaan persepsi terhadap instrumen yang telah dikembangkan, dan penerjemahan instrumen dari bahasa Indonesia ke bahasa Melayu. Ada  dua instrumen literasi sains yang dihasilkan, yaitu untuk mengukur kemampuan literasi sains mahasiswa calon guru dan siswa SMP. Instrumen tersebut digunakan untuk pengambilan data di Fakultas Matematikan dan Sains UPSI dengan responden mahasiswa semester 5 dan siswa secondary school grade 9 di tiga sekolah yang berbeda di Malaysia.
Kunjungan kami ke UPSI juga dimanfaatkan untuk menjalin kerjasama dengan dosen  UPSI lain. Pada kesempatan tersebut kami bertemu dengan Prof. Rosly Jaafar selaku koodinator kelompok riset Physics Kit Instrumentation Research Group yang bersedia berkolaborasi dengan riset di Indonesia. Beliau menawarkan diri untuk hadir di Indonesia mendemonstrasikan Kit Fisika yang sudah dikembangkannya. InsyaAllah bulan September 2018 Prof. Rosly akan hadir di jurusan Fisika FMIPA Unnes. Ide ini sudah kami sampaikan kepada ketua jurusan Fisika, dan beliau menyambut baik tawaran ini serta mengagendakan untuk kegiatan kuliah tamu di jurusan Fisika.
Tawaran lain dari UPSI adalah memberi kesempatan bagi para profesor Fisika Unnes untuk menjadi penguji eksternal. Kesempatan ini tentunya menjadi langkah strategis bagi dosen Unnes untuk Go International.
Semoga jalinan kerjasama ini terus berlanjut dengan kegiatan-kegiatan lain yang lebih bermanfaat bagi Unnes menuju klaster 1 klasterisasi perguruan tinggi dengan peningkatan publikasi, kerjasama internasional dan inovasi.
