In a tangible attempt to protect the environment, Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) and the Djarum Foundation are getting ready to launch a large tree planting initiative. On Tuesday, November 14, the two worked together to plant 3,500 trees in various key sites as part of a sustainability initiative.
3,500 new UNNES students and a group from the Djarum Foundation Environmental Service will participate in this tree planting event. Nyai Ketrik, the vicinity of Gunung Ledek, Sukorejo Village, Gunungpati District, and Semarang City were all planted.
A total of nine faculties comprise the 500 students: 408 Faculty of Education and Psychology, 494 Faculty of Languages and Arts, 359 Faculty of Social Sciences and Political Sciences, 448 Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, 498 Faculty of Engineering, 227 Faculty of Sports Sciences, 576 Faculty of Economics and Business, 284 Law Faculties, and 206 Medical Faculties?
Planting distances of 6×6 meters are used for Alligator, Kendil, and Miki avocados; 7×7 meters are used for Gadung, Manalagi, Kiojay, and Rapiah rambutan; 6×6 meters are used for Map; and 8×8 meters are used for Bawor, Musangking, and Montong durians.
This program offers students environmental education activities in addition to tree planting. Students from UNNES will take part in outreach programs and workshops that emphasize the value of preserving environmental sustainability.
November 25–26, 2023, is when tree planting is expected to begin, along with a number of opening ceremonies. Through this program, UNNES and the Djarum Foundation seek to encourage other institutions to take an active role in environmental preservation.
Through this partnership, 3,500 trees will hopefully be planted, which will help with biodiversity preservation, air quality improvement, and long-term environmental advantages.
