The Student Organization Capacity Strengthening Program (PPK Ormawa) team from the Engineering Research Club (EneRC) at the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), has successfully won two gold medals at the 2026 Abdidaya Awards. The team was named “1st Place: Implementation Team with the Most Comprehensive Outputs,” while their program partner, the Kandri Village administration, was recognized as “1st Place: Most Innovative Partner.” The announcement was made on the night of Sunday, October 24, 2026, at 10:00 PM, during the pinnacle of the Abdidaya event, which took place from October 21 to 25, 2026, at the Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI) in Makassar.

The Result of a Year-Long Journey and Four Months of Implementation

This achievement is the culmination of an extensive process. Over the course of approximately one year, the team navigated various stages—including surveys, sub-proposal development, and a rigorous multi-layered selection process—followed by a four-month implementation phase in Kandri Village, Gunungpati District, Semarang City. The initiative focused on strengthening the Kandri Tourism Village through the integration of “Smart-Agro Edu-Tourism,” with the “Smart Organic Garden” (Kebun Organik Pintar/KOP) serving as its core educational tourism product.

The “1st Place: Implementation Team with the Most Comprehensive Outputs” award serves as recognition for the diversity and completeness of the program’s deliverables. These include an appropriate technology solution (a biogas slurry digester), an organic garden, KOP tourism packages, the establishment of management structures—achieved through the reorganization of the P4S (Agricultural Training and Rural Development Center) and the formation of KOMPOSET—as well as a series of training programs for the local community. In terms of managing livestock waste—converting it into fertilizer and biogas—this program aligns with SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).

Kandri Recognized as the Most Innovative Partner

The title of “1st Place: Most Innovative Partner” was symbolically accepted by the Head of Kandri Village, Mutmainah, S.E., representing the village—a source of great pride for all its residents. This award reflects Kandri’s openness and courage in embracing new ideas. Various local groups—including the Pandanaran Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis), the Mandiri Young Farmers’ Group, the Women Farmers’ Group (KWT), the Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) movement, MSMEs, as well as P4S and KOMPOSET—have worked together to bring to life an educational tourism model based on appropriate technology. This cross-sectoral collaboration aligns with SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), while the strengthening of Kandri as a tourism village—leveraging its local potential—supports SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).

A Moving Moment at the Awards Ceremony

When EneRC FT UNNES and Kandri Village were announced as winners in two categories, the atmosphere became deeply emotional. The entire team and the village representatives celebrated this achievement as a reward for the hard work they had invested together. Kandri Village Head, Mutmainah, S.E., stepped forward to symbolically accept the award on behalf of the village. This moment was captured at UMI Makassar, alongside the Vice Dean 1 of the UNNES Faculty of Engineering, Dr.-Ing. Dhidik Prastiyanto, S.T., M.T., as well as partner representatives, faculty advisors, and all team members. Anargya Rakha Rizqullah, leader of the EneRC FT UNNES PPK Ormawa (Student Organization Capacity Strengthening Program) team, stated that this award does not belong solely to the team. “This belongs to Kandri, to all the partners who placed their trust in us from the very beginning, and to everyone who has supported us with their prayers,” he said.

Future Outlook

With the attainment of these two gold medals, the team hopes that the “Smart Organic Garden” (Kebun Organik Pintar) and the “Smart-Agro Edu-Tourism” concept will continue to grow and be managed independently by the Kandri community, ensuring that the benefits endure long after the mentorship period concludes. This achievement also aligns with the second point of the Asta Cita (eight-point vision) regarding the empowerment of rural communities, and it is hoped that it will inspire other tourism villages and student organizations to introduce innovations that deliver tangible impacts for both society and the environment.

About the EneRC FT UNNES 2026 PPK Ormawa
