Universitas Negeri Semarang > Faculty of Engineering > Fakultas Teknik-eng > International Inbound Student Mobility Program: Dili Institute of Technology (DIT), Timor-Leste

Sixty students from the Dili Institute of Technology (DIT), Timor-Leste, participated in training on Design and Automotive Engineering at the UNNES Faculty of Engineering from August 24 to September 2, 2026. The program focused on sharing expertise in CAD-CAM-CAE Design & Simulation and ETU (Engine Performance & Emission Testing), serving as a tangible demonstration of UNNES’s vision to become a world-class university and its commitment to achieving SDG 4 (Quality Education).

Throughout the program, lecturers from the UNNES Faculty of Engineering wholeheartedly shared their expertise with the DIT students, equipping them with knowledge and skills to implement at their home campus in Timor-Leste. The Dean of the UNNES Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Wirawan Sumbodo, M.T., expressed his delight at the continued partnership, noting that DIT students had participated in the Inbound Student Mobility program previously, and expressed hope that this collaboration would continue annually. The Dean of DIT Timor-Leste, Dr. Natalino Fonseca D. S. Guterres, S.T., M.T., also conveyed his gratitude and appreciation for the warm reception and the ongoing collaboration regarding the International Inbound Student Mobility program.

The students were not the only ones deeply engaged in the instruction provided by the UNNES lecturers; leadership from both institutions also participated in a tree-planting activity. This event served as a tangible expression of UNNES’s vision as a “Conservation-Minded University” and supported the achievement of SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 15 (Life on Land). The group also visited the Smart Organic Village in Kandri Village, Semarang City—an innovation resulting from the 2026 PPK Ormawa EneRC program at the UNNES Faculty of Engineering. Through the appreciation and constructive feedback offered by the leadership, it is hoped that this innovation can be further developed to ensure greater sustainability.

The International Inbound Student Mobility Program for the Dili Institute of Technology officially concluded on September 2, 2026, with closing remarks delivered by the Deans of both institutions. The Dean of DIT Timor-Leste, Dr. In his closing remarks, Natalino Fonseca D. S. Guterres, S.T., M.T., stated, “Once again, we extend our sincere gratitude and apologize for any inappropriate behavior exhibited by our students during the event; we hope this activity can continue in the coming years.” It is hoped that the conclusion of this event will yield tangible benefits for the DIT campus in terms of advancing knowledge in the fields of CAD-CAM-CAE Design & Simulation, as well as Engine Tune-up, Performance, and Emission Testing.
