The Indonesian Medical Council (KKI) conducted a visitation to assess the suitability of Candidates for the Semarang State University (UNNES) Medical Education Study Program, Thursday (5/1).

The visitation team consisted of 5 KKI councilors consisting of Prof. Dr. Dr. Bachtiar Murtala SpRad(K) Chair of the Medical Council Education Division, Dr. Mariatul Fadilah MARS SpKKLP PhD, Member of the Medical Council Division, Dr. Imran Agus Nurali Sp KO Secretary of the Indonesian Medical Council, Drg Erly Novita, and Solihin SKM.

The KKI visitation team was received directly by UNNES Chancellor Prof Dr S Martono MSi in the Chancellor’s Room. In his speech, the UNNES Chancellor welcomed the visitation visit from the KKI team and hoped that the UNNES Medical Faculty Medical Education Study Program could be established soon.

“We are increasingly optimistic about the establishment of a medical faculty (FK). The visit from the KKI visitation team was a breath of fresh air to realize the dream of establishing the Faculty of Medicine, UNNES. “We also hope that the Faculty of Medicine can be established soon and hopefully with the release of the feasibility assessment for the UNNES Medical Education study program, it will be able to accept students this year,” said the Chancellor of UNNES.

The Chancellor of UNNES said that the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine and the Medical Education Study Program refers to UNNES’s vision of becoming a University with a World Reputation, a Pioneer of Educational Excellence with a Conservation Insight.

“UNNES wants to contribute to maintaining and preserving Indonesia’s resilience in the health sector by producing qualified health worker graduates who will become experts in digital medical technology and become professional practitioners,” explained Prof. Martono.

Chairman of the Education Division of the Indonesian Medical Council, Prof. Dr. Dr. Bachtiar Murtala SpRad(K) expressed his appreciation for the hard work of all parties and UNNES leaders in establishing the Medical Faculty and Study Program.

“We feel that UNNES is the most enthusiastic and most prepared for the proposals submitted by the Faculty of Medicine from various parties. “We have confidence that UNNES is certainly experienced in the field of education. It originates from IKIP, so we are very confident that UNNES is very mature in education,” explained Prof. Dr. Dr. Bachtiar Murtala SpRad(K).

The Head of the Education Division of the Indonesian Medical Council explained that this visitation aims to verify the completeness of the establishment of new study programs, facilities and infrastructure that support medical education at UNNES.

“I think the UNNES leadership has experience opening faculties, but I think opening a medical faculty is special because so many people are involved, and so many documents have to be prepared. “Through the documents that have been collected, we assess the suitability of the data and the readiness of the study program in carrying out the learning process,” said Prof. Dr. Dr. Bachtiar Murtala SpRad(K).

Visitations to assess the suitability of Candidates for the UNNES Medical Education Study Program were carried out from 4-7 January 2023. Apart from assessing the suitability of the UNNES Medical Education Study Program documents, the KKI Visitation team also visited the UNNES Digital Center Building, the Main Teaching Hospital of RSUD Dr. Loekmono Hadi Kudus, Satellite Hospital of Tugurejo Regional Hospital, Central Java Province and Datu Sanggul Tapin Regional Hospital, Community Health Center Education Center in the Health Service Area of ​​Semarang City and Tapin Regency, and UNNES Educational Hospital) at the UNNES Campus Complex Jalan Kelud Raya.

Deputy Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Zaenuri SE MSi Akt, said that the Faculty of Medicine that will be developed at UNNES includes the Medical Education Study Program, the Medical Professional Study Program, the Public Health Study Program, the Nutrition Science Study Program, as well as Masters and Doctoral Degrees in Public Health.

Apart from that, Prof. Zaenuri explained that the establishment of the UNNES Medical Faculty had received support and recommendations from the Minister of Health, the Indonesian Medical Council, the Minister of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Health, the Governor of Central Java, the Mayor of Semarang, the Regent of Semarang, the Regent of Kudus, recommendations from LLDIKTI, FK UNDIP, FK UNSOED, FK UIN Syarif Hidayatullah, FK UNDIKHSA, FK UNS, IDI Central Java Region and Semarang City Branch, Central Java Provincial Health Service and Semarang City, and Koni Central Java.

Present at the visitation was the FK UNNES Advisory Team from UNS, the Director of RSUD Dr. Loekmono Hadi Kudus, the Head of the Semarang City Health Service, the Deputy Chancellors of UNNES, the Dean of FIK UNNES, and the UNNES Medicine Study Task Force Team.
