Semarang, June 29, 2026 – Bagas Kurnianto, M.Ed., a lecturer from the Elementary School Teacher Education (PGSD) Study Program, Faculty of Education and Psychology (FIPP), Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), was appointed as a resource person in the Character Education Training through the Seven Habits of Great Indonesian Children (7KAIH) and Guidance and Counseling. The three-day training was held from June 29 to July 1, 2026, at Hotel Muria, Semarang.
The program brought together 300 elementary school teachers from across Semarang City with the aim of strengthening teachers’ capacity to implement character education in line with Indonesia’s national education policies. Throughout the training, participants explored the fundamental concepts of the Seven Habits of Great Indonesian Children (7KAIH), examined best practices in character education, and learned how to develop a digital-based 7KAIH Journal as a tool for monitoring and documenting students’ character development.
As one of the invited resource persons, Bagas Kurnianto, M.Ed. delivered a session on strategies for integrating character education with Guidance and Counseling (GC) services in elementary schools. He emphasized that character development should not be viewed solely as the responsibility of classroom teachers but rather as a collaborative effort involving all members of the school community through consistent and sustainable character-building practices.
In addition to the theoretical framework, participants engaged in discussions on successful implementation models adopted by various schools and explored practical strategies that could be adapted to their own educational contexts. One of the key innovations introduced during the training was the digital 7KAIH Journal, designed to enable teachers to systematically document, monitor, and evaluate students’ character development more efficiently.
The training adopted an interactive approach through group discussions, case studies, and hands-on workshops on developing the digital journal. This enabled participants not only to deepen their conceptual understanding but also to acquire practical skills for implementing character education programs within their respective schools.
Bagas Kurnianto’s involvement in this program reflects the active contribution of FIPP UNNES academics to enhancing teachers’ professional competencies and supporting the implementation of character education in Indonesian elementary schools. His participation also demonstrates UNNES’ commitment to contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), by promoting high-quality teacher development and educational innovation that fosters students’ holistic character formation.
Through collaborative initiatives involving higher education institutions and educational practitioners, the implementation of the Seven Habits of Great Indonesian Children (7KAIH) is expected to become more effective, ultimately contributing to the development of a generation of students who are knowledgeable, resilient, ethical, and well-prepared to face future challenges.
