Sekolah Pascasarjana Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) menyelenggarakan program pelatihan pembuatan kompos berbasis masyarakat. Aksi nyata ini dilaksanakan secara terpusat di Gedung A kawasan kampus Sekolah Pascasarjana, Kelurahan Bendan Ngisor, Kecamatan Gajahmungkur, Kota Semarang. Kegiatan yang berlangsung sejak pukul 08.00 hingga 09.00 WIB ini diinisiasi oleh Kader SDGs dan Konservasi Sekolah Pascasarjana UNNES dengan menyasar seluruh elemen internal struktural dan operasional kampus. Pelatihan ini diikuti secara aktif oleh Wakil Direktur I dan II, jajaran Koordinator Program Studi jenjang S3, S2, dan PPG, Tim Gugus, Kepala Administrasi, serta jajaran Staf Tenaga Kependidikan di lingkungan Sekolah Pascasarjana UNNES. Seluruh peserta berfokus pada pemilahan serta pengolahan sampah organik menggunakan media plastik kompos, media tanam siap pakai, daun kering, dan cairan eco-enzyme sebagai bioaktivator percepatan fermentasi. Langkah ini diambil sebagai respons atas tingginya volume serasah organik di area internal kampus yang selama ini belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal. Melalui edukasi metode pengomposan yang higienis dan aplikatif ini, para peserta diharapkan mampu mereduksi sampah langsung dari sumbernya sekaligus memanfaatkan produk akhir untuk mendukung pelestarian lingkungan hidup dan pertanian perkotaan secara mandiri.

Pelaksanaan pelatihan ini dikorelasikan secara spesifik untuk mendukung pencapaian target Pembangunan Berkelanjutan atau Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Pada SDGs 12 mengenai Konsumsi dan Produksi yang Bertanggung Jawab, pelatihan ini berkontribusi mendasar pada pencapaian target 12.5 melalui pengurangan timbulan sampah secara signifikan lewat tindakan pencegahan, reduksi, daur ulang, dan penggunaan kembali yang mengubah limbah padat organik menjadi pendekatan ekonomi sirkular. Selanjutnya, pada SDGs 13 yang berfokus pada Penanganan Perubahan Iklim, program ini selaras dengan upaya mitigasi emisi gas rumah kaca mengingat sampah organik yang menumpuk di Tempat Pemrosesan Akhir (TPA) secara anaerobik memicu pelepasan gas metana (〖CH〗_4) yang memiliki potensi pemanasan global jauh lebih kuat daripada karbondioksida (〖CO〗_2), sehingga pengomposan aerobik dibantu eco-enzyme yang diajarkan berfungsi menekan emisi tersebut secara signifikan di tingkat tapak. Terakhir, kegiatan ini mendukung target SDGs 15 terkait Ekosistem Daratan dalam menghentikan degradasi lahan dan memulihkan kualitas tanah karena penggunaan pupuk kompos hasil daur ulang serasah daun mampu mentransformasikan kembali material organik ke dalam tanah, memperbaiki struktur fisik, meningkatkan kapasitas retensi air, dan menghidupkan kembali mikroorganisme tanah alami tanpa ketergantungan pada pupuk kimia sintetis.

Melalui penyelenggaraan program ini, Sekolah Pascasarjana UNNES berkomitmen untuk terus mengawal gerakan kampus hijau dan program pendampingan lingkungan secara berkelanjutan. Edukasi intensif mengenai tata kelola limbah mandiri yang melibatkan jajaran pimpinan hingga staf kependidikan ini diharapkan menjadi katalisator perubahan perilaku civitas akademika dan masyarakat luas dalam mengelola lingkungan hidup demi keberlanjutan ekosistem perkotaan di masa depan.
