Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) continues to strengthen its commitment to environmentally friendly mobility through its Green Transportation System and campus transportation policies. As a Conservation University, UNNES promotes sustainable commuting by encouraging the use of campus shuttles, electric vehicles, pedestrian pathways, bicycles, and public transportation.

The university’s transportation services are governed by Circular Letter No. B/28523/UN37/RT.02/2024 on the Operation of Transportation Services within UNNES. This policy provides a framework for managing campus transportation and supporting mobility practices that contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable campus environment.
Building on its previous sustainable transportation target of a 30% increase by 2025, UNNES set a new target in 2025 to increase sustainable transportation use by 40% by 2026. This target reflects the university’s continued efforts to reduce dependence on private motor vehicles and encourage more environmentally responsible travel among students, lecturers, administrative staff, and campus visitors.

Campus shuttle services are an important component of this initiative. According to UNNES publications, the university operates 20 shuttle units on rotating schedules between 07:00 and 17:00 WIB. These services connect key campus locations and provide an alternative to private vehicle use. Based on a preliminary operational estimate, shuttle services accommodate approximately 2,850 passenger journeys per day.
UNNES also supports sustainable mobility through electric shuttles, pedestrian pathways, bicycle parking facilities, and access to public transportation serving the campus. These measures provide multiple transportation options and help create a campus environment that supports walking, cycling, and shared mobility.

Through its transportation policies and supporting infrastructure, UNNES continues to promote sustainable commuting as part of its broader conservation agenda. By expanding environmentally friendly mobility options and encouraging their use across the university community, UNNES seeks to strengthen its Green Transportation System and advance its commitment to a healthier and more sustainable campus.
