Hundreds of spectators filled the Rectorate Field of Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) on Sunday night (8/6/2025), to watch the wayang kulit performance which was the closing event of the series of UNNES’s 60th Anniversary. This cultural performance featured a play entitled “Satriya Sumbaga Wirotama” performed by the famous puppeteer, Ki Sigid Ariyanto.
The play “Satriya Sumbaga Wirotama” carries the theme of leadership with integrity and full of dedication. “Satriya” depicts a true knight who upholds truth and good character. “Sumbaga” means a figure who is generous and sincere in giving, while “Wirotama” refers to the main hero—a role model in courage and morality. This story is in line with the noble values carried by UNNES in shaping the character of students as future leaders.
“This performance is not just entertainment, but also a reflection of UNNES’s spirit in producing a generation with integrity and noble character,” said UNNES Chancellor, Prof. Dr. S. Martono, M.Sc.
“This play reminds us that a true leader is not only physically strong, but also sincere in his devotion,” added the Professor of the Faculty of Economics and Business.
The peak event of the Dies Natalis was also enlivened by the appearance of guest musicians such as Elisha Orcharus Allasso and Jolang, as well as special offerings from the winners of the 2025 Sinden Idol event, namely Nyi Entin Sholihah (1st Place), Nyi Ika Lijaningrum (2nd Place), and Nyi Phitanuryani (3rd Place).
Not only art performances, that night was also an event to present prizes for the winners of the 60th UNNES Dies Natalis Sports Week. The Faculty of Sports Science (FIK) was named the General Champion, followed by the Rectorate as Second Place, and the Faculty of Engineering (FT) as Third Place.
To add to the excitement, the committee provided various attractive door prizes, including a motorbike that was drawn at the end of the event and was warmly welcomed by the audience.
With high enthusiasm from the community and academic community, this evening of wayang kulit performance became a warm, lively, and meaningful closing for the entire series of UNNES’ 60th Dies Natalis.
