Semarang, March 18, 2025 – The Subdirectorate of Conservation Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) entitled “Similar Perception of Conservation Values and Characters” involving student representatives from each faculty at UNNES. This event aims to align understanding of conservation values and characters in the campus environment to support various international environmental rankings.
The event was officially opened by the Head of the Conservation Sub-Directorate, Prof. Dr. Nana Kariada Tri Martuti, M.Sc., who in her speech emphasized the importance of the role of students in implementing conservation values at UNNES. She also said that student involvement in conservation activities greatly contributes to UNNES’ reputation as a conservation-oriented campus.
The discussion was guided by the Head of the Arts, Culture, and Character Values Section, Ir. Dr. Ananto Aji, M.S., who directed participants in discussing various conservation activities at UNNES. In this FGD, students were invited to dig deeper into their active role in supporting conservation programs, both through academic and non-academic activities.

One of the main focuses of the discussion was how conservation activities carried out by students can become part of the data collection for international environmental rankings, such as UI GreenMetric, THE World University Rankings, and QS World University Rankings. This ranking is very important to strengthen UNNES’ position in the global arena and realize the vision of being a superior conservation-oriented campus.
Students from various faculties provided their ideas and experiences related to conservation programs that have been and will be implemented. Several initiatives discussed included greening movements, waste management, energy efficiency, and environmental-based innovations that can have a positive impact on campus sustainability.
With this FGD, it is hoped that all elements at UNNES, especially students, can increasingly understand and implement conservation values in real terms. Synergy between students, academics, and the university is the main key in supporting UNNES in achieving recognition as a globally competitive conservation-based university.
