Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) demonstrated its full commitment to sustainable development by finalizing and submitting data for the 2025 UI GreenMetric (UIGM) World University Rankings. This crucial process was directly overseen by the university’s top leadership.
The data finalization and submission process was led by UNNES Rector, Prof. Dr. S. Martono, M.Si., accompanied by Vice Rectors, including Vice Rector 1 (Academic and Student Affairs), Prof. Dr. Zaenuri, M.Si., Akt., and Vice Rector 3 (Planning, Cooperation, Business, and Public Relations), Prof. Dr. Ngabiyanto, M.Si.
This full involvement of top leadership emphasizes that sustainability is not merely a technical program, but rather UNNES’ strategic vision as a conservation-oriented “House of Knowledge Developing Civilization.”
In his remarks, UNNES Rector, Prof. Dr. Prof. S. Martono, M.Sc., stated that participation in the UIGM demonstrates UNNES’s public accountability for conservation implementation.
“UI GreenMetric is one of our measuring tools to determine the extent to which sustainable practices have been integrated into the Tridharma of Higher Education. The data we submit today is evidence of the hard work of the entire academic community in caring for the earth, and we are jointly overseeing this as a university priority,” said Prof. Martono.
This comprehensive data collection, verification, and validation process is under the coordination of the UNNES Conservation Sub-Directorate.
The Head of the Conservation Sub-Directorate, Prof. Dr. Nana Kariada Tri Martuti, M.Sc., explained that all data for the six UIGM criteria (Management and Infrastructure, Energy and Climate Change, Waste Management, Water Use, Transportation, and Education and Research) has been finalized.
“We are grateful for the full support of the Rectorate and all work units. The technical team has worked diligently to ensure that all data presented is valid and reflects the real conditions of green campus implementation at UNNES,” explained Prof. Martono. Nana.
This technical finalization process also involved the core team from the Conservation Sub-Directorate, including the Head of Natural Resources and Environment (SDAL), Teguh Prihanto, S.T., M.T., and the Head of Conservation Values and Arts and Culture (NKSB), Dr. Ir. Ananto Aji, M.S., who ensured the completeness and accuracy of the supporting data.
With the submission of the UIGM 2025 data, UNNES is optimistic that it can maintain and enhance its position as one of the leading sustainable universities in Indonesia and on the global stage.
