Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), through its Makeup Education Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, held a public lecture entitled “Solo Basahan Bridal Makeup Demonstration” as an effort to support the preservation of local culture through education.
The event, which took place on Wednesday (November 5th) in the Prof. Soedhartono Meeting Room on the third floor of the Faculty of Engineering’s Dean’s Office Building, was opened by the Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Engineering, Rusiyanto, S.Pd., M.T., and featured a professional speaker in the field of Javanese bridal makeup, Priyo Diky Rinandi, S.S., widely known for his work under the handle @dikyrinandimakeup.
This event aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 on Quality Education, which aims to improve student competency in the field of makeup.
On this occasion, Priyo Diky Rinandi shared his experiences, techniques, and the profound philosophy behind Solo Basahan bridal makeup. Students also had the opportunity to witness firsthand the Solo Basahan bridal makeup process, from facial preparation and hair styling to the use of traditional Solo Basahan clothing and accessories.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Makeup Education Study Program, Ade Novi Nurul Ihsani, S.Pd., M.Pd., stated that this activity serves as an inspiring learning platform that encourages students not only to master technical skills in bridal makeup but also to foster a sense of pride and responsibility in preserving local culture.
“We want students to learn directly from professional practitioners so they can develop creativity and innovation, and preserve the precious cultural heritage of Javanese bridal makeup,” said Dr. Krisnawati.
This activity also aligns with one of UNNES’s visions, namely to become a conservation-oriented university. Through the pillar of cultural conservation, UNNES is committed to preserving local wisdom values, strengthening national identity, and instilling pride in traditional culture in students. This public lecture is a concrete manifestation of the implementation of cultural conservation education on campus.
This activity demonstrates a real collaboration between academics and practitioners to produce future educators and professionals in the field of cosmetology who are superior, creative, and possess character, while upholding Indonesian cultural values amidst the development of the modern beauty industry.
