UNNES Entered QS WUR: Sustainability 2024, Proof of Seriousness in Sustainability

The seriousness of Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) in realizing UNNES as a university with conservation insight and international reputation is increasingly being optimized. After being ranked 5th in the UI GreenMetric Indonesia 2023 event, UNNES was ranked 1201+ out of 1,400 universities from all over the world and ranked 20th throughout Indonesia in the QS Sustainability Rankings 2024.

QS WUR: Sustainability 2024 is a higher education ranking by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) to assess the ability of higher education institutions to implement sustainability in the social and environmental fields and how to face these challenges.

The aspects assessed in QS WUR: Sustainability 2024 use a methodology consisting of indicators designed to measure institutional capacity for environmental challenges, social impacts, and governance.

UNNES Chancellor Prof. S. Martono expressed his gratitude for UNNES’s achievement in QS WUR: Sustainability 2024. According to him, this achievement is the first step for UNNES toward becoming a world-class university.

UNNES has taken a number of important steps to become a sustainable university. The steps taken include joining various organizations that have the same goals in sustainability at the national and international level, carrying out recycling, saving energy, minimizing waste, and green transportation campaigns, which are participated in by the entire academic community.

These activities create a sustainable atmosphere, perspective, behavior, character, and university culture.
