The Dance Education Study Program, Faculty of Language and Arts, Universitas Negeri Semarang held a commemoration of World Dance Day, Monday, April 29 2024, at the Cultural Village.
The 2024 World Dance Day commemoration held by Unnes has the theme “Preserving Traditions, Maintaining Archipelago Culture”.
The Unnes Dancing event presents 2 types of events that are woven into one series. First, the National Level Dance Festival will be broadcast live streaming starting at 08.00 WIB via the B7TVHD Sendratasik Youtube channel.
Both dance performances start at 18.30 WIB at the UNNES Cultural Village. The National Dance Festival featured 5 nominees from 12 participants from various regions as well as student performances from each class.
Chairman of the Committee, Drs Bintang Hanggoro Putra MHum, said that the Festival was held virtually with the aim of reaching wider community participation.
“The dance performance event which was held as a live performance featured 18 typical Wonosobo dances performed by the student and alumni community from Wonosobo,” he said.
Dance Education Study Program Coordinator, Dr Eny Kusumastuti said that UNNES Dancing is an opportunity for students to appreciate, be creative and express themselves.
“It is very important to foster the interest of the younger generation amidst the onslaught of modern culture,” he added. UNNES Menari provides a platform for dancers and dance lovers to share their love through dance. Spreading the message of peace, harmony and cross-cultural cooperation through beautiful and meaningful body movements.
He said universities have an important role in developing science and maintaining cultural values. Semarang State University as a conservation-oriented campus is committed to continuing to preserve the arts and culture of the archipelago.
