Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) was selected as one of the sites for the validation of the 2025 Swasti Saba National Healthy Regency/City assessment at the UNNES Sekaran Campus on Friday (September 26, 2025). The assessment positioned UNNES as a representative indicator of educational institutions, specifically in the Healthy Campus category.
The focus was on managing a healthy, safe, comfortable, and sustainable campus environment. The validation process included environmental governance, provision of supporting facilities, and academic community participation in maintaining clean and healthy lifestyles (PHBS).
UNNES Rector Prof. Dr. S. Martono, M.Si., stated that this achievement is a crucial momentum to strengthen UNNES’s role as a pioneer of healthy and environmentally friendly campuses. “We want UNNES to be not only a center of education, but also a role model in creating a healthy, safe, and sustainable ecosystem for the entire academic community,” he said.
According to the assessment team, education is a crucial element in realizing a Healthy Indonesia.
“Starting from the village, then the sub-district, then continuing to the district/city, and ultimately towards a Healthy Indonesia,” he emphasized.
UNNES’ commitment to being a Healthy Campus is realized through the development of an internationally minded conservation university based on sustainable development goals. These values are present in various environmental, health, and character education programs integrated with academic and non-academic activities.
Present at the event were Dr. dr. Mochamad Abdul Hakam, Sp.PD., Head of the Semarang City Health Office; Nani Rohani, Assistant Deputy for Capacity Building and Health Resilience at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture; and Dr. Rezavitawantri, a representative from the Directorate of Infectious Diseases at the Ministry of Health.
With UNNES selected as the validation location for Swasti Saba 2025, it is hoped that this will further encourage a collective movement towards a Healthy Indonesia, starting from the educational environment and extending to the wider community.
