Universitas Negeri Semarang succeeded in achieving a proud achievement in the Universitas Indonesia GreenMetric (UIGM) event, which was announced in a series of events announcing and awarding the 2023 UI GreenMetric Rankings in Indonesia at the Unhas Hotel & Convention, Makasar, on Thursday (30/11) evening.
This ranking has been carried out by the University of Indonesia since 2010 to determine the campus’s sustainable efforts in various aspects. Apart from that, it also builds awareness and commitment about the importance of good environmental management in higher education.
There are more UIGM 2023 participants than last year. This ranking was attended by 1183 universities from 85 countries and 145 universities in Indonesia. The trend of participants is increasing from year to year, which shows that many universities in Indonesia and around the world are increasingly aware of and concerned about the importance of environmental sustainability. Apart from that, UIGM is not only about achieving rankings but also about sustainable efforts to maintain a sustainable environment.
This year, Semarang State University succeeded in showing extraordinary commitment in accordance with its conservation-oriented vision in the UI GreenMetric 2023 ranking. UNNES was ranked 5th nationally as a sustainable campus in Indonesia. This award was presented by Prof. Dr. Ir. Riri Fitri Sari, M.M., M.Sc., as Head of UI GreenMatric, and received by Prof. Dr. Nur Qudus, M.T., IPM., as Deputy Chancellor for Cooperation, Business, and International Relations at UNNES.
This ranking cannot be separated from the role of the entire UNNES academic community, which has worked hard and given very high dedication to making this campus an environmentally friendly and sustainable educational place. It is hoped that this achievement can continue to improve and serve as motivation for all parties to maintain environmental sustainability for a better future.
