Semarang, October 16, 2025 — Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) reaffirmed its commitment to being an environmentally conscious and sustainable campus by receiving the UI GreenMetric Trees Rating certificate. In the assessment, UNNES achieved a 4.5 out of 5 tree rating, recognizing the university’s consistent application of sustainability principles across all aspects of campus management.
The certificate of appreciation was presented online by the Head of UI GreenMetric, Dr. Vishnu Juwono, S.E., MIA, to UNNES on Wednesday, October 16, 2025. The event was attended by the Director of Academic, Student Affairs, and Conservation at UNNES, Mr. Mulyo Widodo, S.Pd., M.M., along with members of the Conservation Subdirectorate and Conservation Groups from each faculty and unit within UNNES.
In his remarks, Dr. Vishnu Juwono expressed his high appreciation for UNNES’s consistent efforts in embracing conservation values as part of the campus’s identity and culture.
“UNNES is one of the universities that has truly integrated the concept of sustainability into the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. This 4.5 Trees Rating is not just a numerical achievement, but a reflection of our ongoing commitment to the environment, green education, and earth-friendly campus governance,” said Dr. Vishnu.
He further emphasized that this award is expected to inspire other universities in Indonesia to strengthen their contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Meanwhile, Mulyo Widodo, on the same occasion, expressed his gratitude and pride for this achievement. “This achievement proves that UNNES’s conservation spirit is not just a slogan, but is embedded in all academic, research, and community service activities,” he said.
The UI GreenMetric Trees Rating is an evaluation program conducted by the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, which assesses university performance across six main criteria: infrastructure management, energy and climate change, waste management, water, transportation, and sustainable education and research.
Through this recognition, UNNES further strengthens its position as a world-class university with a conservation perspective and international reputation.
