Tuesday, July 11, in the LPPM Building, Universitas Negeri Semarang had a visit from Pusat Penelitian Lingkungan Hidup (PPLH) at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta. As Head of the Conservation Subdirectorate, Prof. Dr. Amin Retnoningsih, M.Si., cordially welcomed the nine-person Green Campus Team. The purpose of this visit is to perform a comparative analysis of the evolution of the Conservation Sub-Directorate from its founding to the present. In addition, we pool our knowledge and expertise in sustainable and successful environmental management in higher education to maximize UNS’s Green Campus implementation.
This session started with a visit to Tempat Pengolahan Sampah Terpadu (TPST), presentations, and discussions at the UNNES Innovation House. The prerequisites that UNNES must meet in order to successfully manage the campus environment are outlined in the presentation given by Prof. Dr. Amin Retnoningsih, M.Sc. This has a lot to do with the fact that UNNES has a Conservation Subdirectorate to carry out its conservation-oriented agenda. Dr. Ir. Dewi Handayani, S.T., M.T., Head of PPLH, expressed her gratitude to UNNES for consistently putting conservation values into practice and even went so far as to collect honors at various esteemed events. In addition, the Conservation Subdirectorate has expanded at a very quick pace every year.
The Green Campus crew also raised a lot of questions, which helped to make the conversation lively and participatory. Following the talk, there was a visit to the TPST as part of the activity. This group got the chance to watch and learn about the production of compost, maggots, and incineration operations. It is hoped that initiatives such as these will persist and yield significant advantages for the institutions as well as the larger community.
