The Engineering Research Club (EneRC) of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) successfully held the 2025 International Green Scientific Competition (IGSC). This international scientific competition took place on Saturday, August 23, 2025, in the 3rd Floor Meeting Room of the UNNES Faculty of Engineering Dean’s Office.
The Engineering Research Club (EneRC) is a student organization within the UNNES Faculty of Engineering with the status of a Semi-Autonomous Body (BSO). The International Green Scientific Competition (IGSC) is an international scientific paper competition initiated by EneRC in 2023. In 2025, the IGSC was held offline and included field trips.
This competition targets students from Diploma 3 to Bachelor’s degrees, with the goal of producing a young generation of critical, productive, and sustainability-oriented researchers. In addition to gaining experience writing scientific papers, participants also gained the opportunity to develop innovations to address environmental issues, particularly in the agricultural sector, and to strengthen their contribution to the realization of Indonesia Emas 2045.
With the theme “Smart Innovations of the Youth Generation to Achieve SDGs-Based Solutions for a Resilient Agricultural Future,” participants were challenged to express their ideas and innovations in the form of scientific papers based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically related to sustainable agricultural solutions.
The event was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, UNNES, Prof. Dr. Wirawan Sumbodo, M.T., along with faculty leaders. In his remarks, Prof. Wirawan expressed his appreciation to all finalists who had made it to the grand final.
“The finalists attending IGSC 2025 are champions. Students must continue to create brilliant and innovative ideas by utilizing artificial intelligence and SDG-based approaches for the advancement of the nation,” Prof. Wirawan emphasized.
In the closing session, which also included the announcement of the winners, the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) team won first place. Meanwhile, the second-place team from the Faculty of Engineering, UNNES, won second place, and the third-place team from the State University of Malang (UM).
With the success of IGSC 2025, it is hoped that EneRC, together with the Faculty of Engineering, UNNES, can continue to expand its network, involve more global universities, and strengthen UNNES’s contribution as a university with an international reputation.
