The Natural Sciences and Environment Student Association of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), successfully implemented the Student Organization Capacity Building Program (PPK Ormawa) in Peron Village, Limbangan District, Kendal. The program, which ran from July to October 2025, carried the theme “Optimizing Zero Waste Agroforestry in Peron Village as a Bioregional Resilience Strategy” and focused on developing the potential of forest villages sustainably.
The program was chaired by Muhammad Agnaf Naufal, supported by 13 team members: Maria Nafraim Oktaviana, Suci Wulandari, Daffa Evan Pradama, Aurelia Dias Nanda Revalina, Aira Trismadya Primagati, Ajmal Rozan, Rizqa Najwa, Maisya Rahmawati, Karista Gadis Setiyanda, Bernov Lakhomi Pujangga Sakti, Farid Nur Hidayat, Ade Anggun Wana Putri, and Umi Rahmawati.
The opening ceremony on July 29, 2025, was attended by academics from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at UNNES, including Zaenal Abidin, S.Si., M.Cs., Ph.D.; Amnan Haris, S.Si., M.Ling., the Vice Dean I of FMIPA UNNES; Fidia Fibriana, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., the PPK Ormawa supervising lecturer; Dr. Andhina Putri Heriyanti, S.T., M.Si., the Coordinator of the Undergraduate Science Education Study Program; and the Coordinator of the Undergraduate Environmental Science Study Program at UNNES. In attendance were Mrs. Erna Hermawati, the Head of Peron Village, along with village officials, who enthusiastically welcomed the program.
Using the Participatory Rural Appraisal method, the team and the community formulated three core programs:
1. Z-Agroforestrypreneur – training in zero-waste forest product processing, including the production of liquid organic fertilizer, processing coffee into powder, and utilizing coffee skins for herbal tea.
2. Product Packaging, Marketing, and Branding Workshop – enhancing the economic capacity of local residents through modern marketing strategies, product certification, and the launch of superior products (ground coffee, roasted coffee, cascara, and liquid organic fertilizer) at the 2025 Mathematics and Natural Sciences Fair. The event was also attended by the Rector of UNNES, Prof. Dr. S. Martono, M.Si., and the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Prof. Dr. Edy Cahyono, M.Si.
3. Agrosiaga Conservation Cadre Development – strengthening environmental awareness through biodiversity Training of Trainers (TTIs), planting forest buffer trees, and disaster mitigation education.
This program not only increases the productivity and economic independence of the community but also strengthens environmental conservation in Peron Village, located in the upper reaches of the Bodri Watershed. Thus, the PPK Ormawa HIMA IPA UNNES contributes significantly to the achievement of SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 15 (Terrestrial Ecosystems).
Through the synergy of students, academics, and village communities, PPK Ormawa HIMA IPA UNNES proved that campus and village collaboration can present sustainable innovations that provide direct benefits to the community while supporting the global development agenda.
