In supporting sustainable agricultural programs, the PPK Ormawa EneRC team of the Faculty of Engineering (FT) Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) successfully held a mass production activity for organic fertilizer which was carried out at the Citra Building, Mangunsari Village, Semarang City on Saturday, August 31, 2024. Carrying the theme “Smart Technology for Quality Agriculture”, this activity involving the local community was also attended by a number of important figures from UNNES and several regional officials.
Present at the event were the Director of the Academic, Student Affairs, and Institutional Directorate (DAKK), KASI Student Affairs, Deputy Dean 1 of the Faculty of Languages and Arts (FBS), Deputy Dean 1 of FT, FBS Supervisor, and the PPK Ormawa EneRC Team mentor. In addition, members of the Semarang City DPRD, representatives from the Agriculture Service, and the Head of Mangunsari Village were also present.
Director of the Academic, Student Affairs, and Institutional Directorate (DAKK) Mulyo Widodo, S.Pd., M.M. in his speech, he expressed his appreciation to all parties involved in this activity, especially the Mangunsari community and the stakeholders who have given their full support.
“This program is a real form of collaboration between universities and the community in achieving sustainable development goals.” he said
Vice Dean 1 FT Dr.-Ing. Dhidik Prastiyanto, S.T., M.T. also added that this kind of synergy is very important to ensure the success of the long-term program.
The organic fertilizer production process begins with the fermentation stage of organic materials. After the fermentation process is complete, the materials are dried in the sun to reduce the water content. Furthermore, the dry materials are ground into fine grains to facilitate their use. This process ends with the packaging of organic fertilizers in both solid and liquid forms into prepared packaging. This activity was actively attended by all residents and invited guests, who were directly involved in every stage of production.
Members of the Semarang City DPRD and the Head of Mangunsari Village expressed their appreciation for the initiative carried out by the PPK Ormawa EneRC FT UNNES Team. They hope that this activity can have a positive impact on the agricultural sector in Mangunsari Village, as well as being the first step towards more sustainable and environmentally friendly agricultural practices.
Through this mass production of organic fertilizer, the Mangunsari community is expected to be able to increase their agricultural output both in quality and quantity. This program is expected to continue to receive support from various parties so that it can develop further and provide wider benefits for the sustainability of local agriculture.
