The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Semarang (FT UNNES) held morning exercise and tree planting activities with a delegation of students and lecturers from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, DIT Timor Leste. The activity took place on the FT UNNES campus and was attended by faculty leaders, lecturers, educational staff, and students.
The Dean of FT UNNES, Prof. Dr. Wirawan Sumbodo, M.T., and his staff welcomed the DIT Timor Leste delegation. In his remarks, he expressed his appreciation for this collaboration, which not only strengthens relations between universities but also demonstrates support for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Healthy Lifestyle) and SDG 15 (Terrestrial Ecosystems).
Prof. Wirawan emphasized that this collaboration is expected to foster healthy student character, care for the environment, and be open to the development of science and technology.
“This activity is concrete evidence of the implementation of UNNES’s vision as a Conservation-Oriented and Internationally Reputable University,” he said.
The event began with morning exercises, followed by tree planting as a symbol of environmental awareness. After the series of activities, all participants enjoyed a healthy breakfast prepared by the committee.
In addition to the exercises and tree planting, students from the Timor Leste Institute of Technology (DIT Timor Leste) also participated in a knowledge sharing session on CNC machines and design software. This intensive discussion took place in Buildings E5 and E11 of the Faculty of Engineering, UNNES, under the guidance of UNNES Mechanical Engineering lecturers who are experts in their fields.
Going forward, similar activities are expected to continue on a regular basis, involving more students from across study programs. This way, the values of health, environmental awareness, and technological mastery can become more deeply ingrained and become part of the academic culture at UNNES.
