The Islamic Practice Agency of Universitas Negeri Semarang (BAI UNNES) in collaboration with UNNES Charity House, the Indonesian Campus Preaching Institutions Silaturahmi Forum (FSLDK), and the Islamic Spiritual Activity Unit (UKKI) UNNES held the opening of the Echo of Ramadhan on Campus (Gradika) 1446 H on Saturday (01/03/2025).
In the event which took place at the Ulul Albab Mosque UNNES, the Chancellor of UNNES, Prof. Dr. S Martono, M.Sc., conveyed an important message regarding how Islamic values can be applied in conservation efforts, not only in the context of the environment but also in terms of maintaining moral values and character.
The Chancellor of UNNES stated that conservation should be understood more broadly than just maintaining plants or green spaces. “Conservation in Islam is not only about plants or something green, but also includes values and characters that must be maintained and applied in everyday life,” he said.
Regarding the rampant development at UNNES, the Chancellor emphasized that the development carried out at UNNES remains in line with the meaning of conservation. “Every tree that is cut down is replaced with ten trees in other areas. Likewise with the construction of buildings, UNNES does not build carelessly. We are willing to let go of old buildings that are no longer suitable to be replaced with buildings that are more appropriate and environmentally friendly,” said Prof. Martono.
On that occasion, the Chancellor also added that UNNES has a development master plan that has been designed until 2035. With this plan, development at UNNES does not only focus on the physical development of the campus, but also ensures that the principles of conservation and environmental sustainability remain the main priority.
In addition to the UNNES Chancellor, the opening of Gradika 1446 H was also attended by the UNNES academic community and the general public. Grandika 1446 H consists of various activities such as Mutiara Senja, Quran Camp, Itikaf, Senyum Gradika, Kultum Subuh, to DIY Workshop Ramadhan.
