In equipping students with knowledge and skills in nature conservation and outdoor activities, MAHAPALA Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) collaborates with the Central Java Provincial Youth, Sports and Tourism Service (Disporapar Jateng) to organize basic nature lover training activities. The event, which lasted for three days, from 19 to 21 June 2024, was held to increase awareness and skills in preserving nature and facing challenges in the wild.
The training, which took place at the D’Emmerick Lintas Putih Hotel, was attended by around 105 participants, consisting of students, members of the nature-loving community, and the general public.
The event was officially opened by the Head of Central Java Disporapar, who was represented by the Secretary of Central Java Provincial Disporapar, Syurya Deta Syafrie S.T, M.T,. In his speech, the Secretary of Disporapar emphasized the important role of the younger generation in nature conservation.
“This activity is not only to increase knowledge and skills, but also to build character and a leadership spirit that cares about the environment. “We hope that the participants can become ambassadors for nature conservation in Central Java,” added Syurya Deta Syafrie.
One of the participants, Afif, expressed his positive impression of this activity. “This training is very useful. I gained a lot of new knowledge and also made friends who have the same interest in nature conservation. “This has been a very valuable experience for me,” he said.
The basic training provided includes various materials, including training from Basarnas Semarang, BPBD Salatiga City, Disporapar City Salatiga, as well as MAHAPALA UNNES certified instructors regarding land navigation and climbing management. Apart from that, participants also carried out direct practices such as setting up tents and making drag bars.
With the end of this training, the Central Java Disporapar is committed to continuing to support MAHAPALA UNNES activities in the future to create a young generation who loves nature and is environmentally conscious. Apart from that, participants are also expected to be able to apply the knowledge and skills they have gained in their daily lives and become agents of positive change in their respective environments.
