Pusat Kajian Literasi Fakultas Bahasa dan Seni Universitas Negeri Semarang bersama dengan Pemerintah Australia melakukan penelitian bersama terkait perubahan iklim pada Agustus 2023 hingga Juli 2024. Penelitian bakal berfokus pada permasalahan iklim dan lingkungan yang dinilai belum mendapatkan perhatian. Hasil penelitian nantinya diharapkan dapat menjadi masukan bagi pengambil kebijakan untuk menentukan langkah-langkah selanjutnya terkait dengan isu iklim dan lingkungan.

Ketua Pusat Kajian Literasi yang juga dosen Jurusan Bahasa dan Sastra Inggris FBS UNNES, Zulfa Sakhiyya PhD, mengatakan penelitian ini juga melibatkan sejumlah pihak lain, di antaranya Badan Perencanaan dan Pembangunan Nasional (Bappenas); Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi; Knowledge Partnersip Platform Australia-Indonesia (KONEKSI); Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional (BRIN); Universitas Gadjah Mada; Australian National Univerity; dan The University of Western Australia.

Hibah penelitian ini dibiayai penuh oleh Kementerian Perdagangan dan Luar Negeri Australia dan bekerja sama dengan Bappenas; Kemdikbudristek, dan Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional (BRIN).

Zulfa menyatakan periode penelitian berlangsung mulai 1 Agustus 2023 hingga 31 Juli 2024 di empat lembaga swadaya masyarakat atau LSM yang beranggotakan perempuan, yaitu Solidaritas Perempuan Kinasih dan Sri Institut di Yogyakarta; Mosintuwu di Palu; dan Jaringan Perempuan Indonesia Timur di Kupang. Penelitian dengan judul “Inclusive Climate Adaption The Roles of Women’s Climate Advocacy Network” ini bakal difokuskan pada bagaimana LSM perempuan berkontribusi dalam pemertahanan iklim dan perawatan lingkungan. Para peneliti ingin menyambungkan peran dan memberdayakan potensi yang telah dimiliki LSM perempuan.

Anggota tim peneliti dari UNNES adalah Girindra Putri Dewi Saraswati, Zuhrul Anam, Sri Sumaryani, Agung Ginanjar Anjaniputra. Keempat anggota peneliti tersebut juga dosen di Jurusan Bahasa dan Sastra Inggris FBS UNNES. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga didukung oleh peneliti dari luar UNNES, yaitu Dr Yulida Pangastuti dari Universitas Gadjah Mada; Dr Rini Astuti dari Australian National University; Prof Vaille Dawson dari University of Western Australia.

Zulfa mengatakan, dalam proses seleksi sebelum penelitian berhasil didanai, terdapat 650 proposal yang masuk. Terdapat empat seleksi yang dilakukan sebelum akhirnya proposal Pusat Kajian Literasi berhasil didanai.

Keluaran penelitian yang bakal dihasilkan berupa basis data (database), infografis, artikel ilmiah, hingga artikel populer. Untuk dampak eksternal, Zulfa mengatakan, pihaknya ingin memperkuat eksistensi LSM perempuan di bidang iklim. “Secara internal, kami di Pusat Kajian Literasi ingin menyuguhkan perspektif tentang bagaimana cara mendapatkan hibah internasional,” ujarnya. Sebab, menurutnya, dosen perlu lebih didorong mendapatkan hibah kompetitif dalam skala internasional.

Sebelumnya, Zulfa juga beberapa kali mendapatkan pendanaan penelitian dari eksternal kampus. Pada masa awal wabah pandemi Covid-19, misalnya, ia mendapatkan hibah dari Pemerintah Australia dan melakukan penelitian bersama dengan dosen dari Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Negeri Malang, dan The University of Western Australia tentang bagaimana dosen perempuan di Indonesia menavigasikan kehidupannya selama pandemi. “Bedanya, penelitian tersebut membahas tentang gender sedangkan penelitian yang akan dilakukan ini membahas tentang perubahan iklim,” kata Zulfa.

Selain Australia, Zulfa pernah mendapatkan hibah dari The British Council untuk meliti gender di perguruan tinggi di ASEAN, dan juga dari Global Development Network untuk mengkaji lanskap ilmu sosial humaniora di Indonesia.
