Semarang, July 19, 2025 – Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), through its Conservation Sub-Directorate, successfully held the 2025 Technical Guidance for Beginner-Level Nature Conservation Cadres. The two-day event, July 18-19, 2025, aimed to develop a young generation that cares about and is active in environmental conservation efforts. Twenty-four students from various faculties and Student Activity Units (UKM) at UNNES enthusiastically participated in all activities.
The Bimtek was officially opened by the Vice Rector for Field 1, Prof. Dr. Zaenuri, M.Si., Akt., at the UNNES LP3 building. In his remarks, Prof. Zaenuri emphasized the importance of students’ role as agents of change in preserving nature. “Conservation is not only the government’s responsibility, but also all of ours. Through this Bimtek, we hope to develop cadres dedicated to the future of our environment,” he said.
This event was the result of a successful collaboration between the UNNES Conservation Sub-Directorate and the Central Java Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA). This collaboration not only provided participants with knowledge but also facilitated data collection and the issuance of certificates and Membership Cards (KTA) as official Conservation Cadres.
The opening session featured a presentation on “Conservation Basics” delivered by the Head of the Conservation Sub-Directorate, Prof. Dr. Nana Kariada TM, M.Si. Participants then explored “Flora and Fauna Ecology” from a representative of the Central Java BKSDA and a presentation on “Forestry” from the Environment and Forestry Service (DLHK).
On the second day, activities moved to the outdoor area of the Ngesrepbalong Village Camping Ground. The beautiful rural setting provided the ideal backdrop for the inspiring presentation on “Conservation Implementation” by Mr. Wahyudi, a Local Hero from Ngesrepbalong Village. A circle discussion around the warm campfire concluded the evening session with a presentation on “Environmental Ethics” from a representative of the Akar Banir Foundation, raising awareness of the importance of ethical values in interacting with nature.
In the morning, the Ngesrepbalong Village Tourism Group (Pokdarwis) took participants on a tour to see firsthand the rich flora and fauna and the village’s unique characteristics. A particularly memorable moment was when participants were invited to plant forest trees in the camping ground, demonstrating their commitment to environmental sustainability. Mr. Edy Triyanto delivered a concluding presentation, “The Role of Conservation Cadres,” to strengthen the participants’ spirits.
It is hoped that through this technical guidance, students will become active conservation ambassadors, not only on campus but also within the community, bringing positive change to Indonesia’s natural sustainability.
