Semarang, April 22, 2025. In order to commemorate Earth Day and realize the commitment to environmental sustainability, the Faculty of Law, Universitas Negeri Semarang together with the Semarang City Ministry of Religious Affairs Office held a real action through the 1 Million Matoa Tree Planting Movement, which was carried out on the UNNES campus. Carrying the slogan “1 Tree, a Million Benefits”, this activity is a symbol of collaboration between institutions in campaigning for the importance of environmental conservation and efforts to maintain the sustainability of local ecosystems.

Matoa trees were chosen because they have ecological and economic value, and are easily adaptable to Indonesia’s tropical climate. Planting was carried out simultaneously by the leadership of FH UNNES and the Semarang City Ministry of Religious Affairs, and involved students and lecturers as a form of active participation of the academic community.

This action is also in line with UNNES’s grand vision as a conservation campus that continues to strive to foster a culture of love for the environment. The Dean of FH UNNES said that this activity is not just a ceremonial movement, but a real form of the campus’s contribution to protecting the earth and the future. “One tree that we plant today will bring a million benefits to future generations,” he said.

This activity is also part of the implementation of the values of “FH Echoing, Graduates Powerful, Law Sovereign”, where law students are not only required to excel academically, but also have social awareness and ecological responsibility towards the surrounding environment.
