Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) celebrated its 60th Anniversary solemnly and with national spirit at the Prof. Wuryanto Auditorium on Sunday (8/6/2025). With the theme “UNNES Quality Towards Golden Indonesia”, this commemoration confirms UNNES’ commitment to continue to be a quality university and make a real contribution to national development.
UNNES Chancellor, Prof. Dr. S. Martono, M.Sc., in his speech emphasized that the theme reflects two important things: commitment to quality and love for the country.
“The phrase ‘UNNES Quality’ emphasizes our efforts in making education impactful for society. Meanwhile, ‘Towards Golden Indonesia’ is a form of UNNES’ active participation in educating the nation,” said the Chancellor.
As part of the peak event of the Anniversary, UNNES gave the Conservation Award to two national figures who were considered to have made extraordinary contributions in advancing the values of education, peace, and nationality. The two figures are Prof. Dr. Abdul Mu’ti and Taufiq Hidayat.
In his scientific speech, Prof. Dr. Abdul Mu’ti, Minister of Primary and Secondary Education of the Republic of Indonesia, conveyed his views on the importance of preparing Indonesia’s golden generation rooted in the values of Pancasila. He emphasized that the nation’s next generation must be intellectually intelligent, have a national commitment, and be able to create a peaceful and civilized life.
“Today’s teachers are not only Agents of Change, but also Agents of Civilization, agents of civilization who shape the future of the nation,” said Prof. Mu’ti. He also appreciated UNNES as a strategic partner of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education in producing inspiring and competent teachers throughout Indonesia.
As a form of appreciation for his thoughts, policies, and struggles in carrying out humanistic, transformative, and pluralistic education, UNNES awarded the Upakarti Dharmakarya Adhikarana Utama to Prof. Abdul Mu’ti.
The second person to receive the Anugerah Konservasi award was Taufik Hidayat, a badminton legend who now serves as Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia. UNNES awarded Upakarti Krida Adhikarana as a form of recognition for his dedication in integrating sports with value and character education.
Through the Taufik Hidayat Arena and his national role as a public official, Taufik Hidayat continues to ignite the spirit of sportsmanship, discipline, and nationalism among the younger generation. According to him, achievement is not just a number or a trophy, but a way to shape the character of the nation.
Both are considered to have succeeded in implementing conservation values in the fields of education and sports, which are in line with UNNES’s conservation pillars, namely the preservation of nature and the environment, arts and culture, and values and character.
This Dies Natalis activity also became a moment to launch UNNES’ latest digital innovation, namely the MyUNNES-Mobile 3.0 application and Agnes (Artificial Guide on UNNES), a virtual assistant based on artificial intelligence. This innovation is expected to encourage increasingly inclusive and quality education services.
With the spirit of conservation and digital transformation, UNNES continues to move steadily to become a world-renowned university, towards Indonesia Emas.
